Following on from last year’s win, we’re proud to share that MAC has been shortlisted for the LRWA Sustainability Award for the second year in a row – with 11 Belgrave Road, London now announced as a finalist!
This high-profile refurbishment project in Victoria transformed an existing commercial building into a sustainable mixed-use development. Appointed by BAM UK & Ireland, MAC delivered the complete waterproofing package across multiple roof levels, utilising a hybrid approach of hot melt structural waterproofing with liquid-applied detailing.
A ‘recycle-first’ approach was adopted on this development, achieving zero waste to landfill during construction. In addition, approximately 35% of the original building was retained, significantly reducing embodies carbon compared to a full rebuild approach.
Throughout this project, the MAC team overcame challenging logistics and intricate interfaces, working within a tightly constrained city-centre site. The result is a robust, high-quality roofing solution that supports both the architectural vision and the client’s sustainability goals.
A fantastic achievement for everyone involved!
